Choosing a toilet suite

Toilets are the one bathroom product where a measurement mistake means the suite simply will not fit. Get the set-out right first.

Measure your set-out before you buy

If your waste goes through the floor (an S-trap), measure from the finished wall to the centre of the waste pipe. That figure is the set-out, and the suite you buy must match it. If your waste goes through the wall (a P-trap), measure the height from the finished floor to the centre of the waste. Bring these numbers with you and we will match a suite to them.

Types

• Close-coupled — traditional cistern sitting on the pan, simple to service
• Back-to-wall — pan sits flush to the wall, no gap behind to clean
• Wall-faced with in-wall cistern — cistern hidden in the wall for the cleanest look, needs framing depth
• Wall-hung — pan off the floor entirely, requires a concealed frame and solid structure

Worth knowing

• Rimless pans flush around an open rim and are considerably easier to keep clean
• WELS rating tells you the water use — higher stars means lower bills
• Soft-close seats are standard on most suites now and worth insisting on

Installation

Toilet installation is plumbing work and must be carried out by a licensed plumber. In-wall cisterns and wall-hung pans need to be planned before the wall is framed and sheeted.

We deliver to Sydney suburbs only. Ceramic ware is heavy and fragile, so delivery availability can vary by postcode. Collection from our Hornsby showroom is available.

We can supply a suite on its own, or supply and install it as part of a bathroom renovation.
