How long does owners corporation approval usually take?
It depends entirely on when the committee next meets. Some schemes can approve minor renovations between meetings under delegated authority; others wait for the next scheduled meeting or an extraordinary general meeting. We give you the scope document immediately so the clock starts as early as possible.
My apartment is only a few years old. Do I still need permission?
Almost certainly. Age has nothing to do with it — what matters is that waterproofing and floor penetrations are common property in most schemes. Newer Lindfield buildings frequently have detailed renovation by-laws covering hours, lift protection and approved trades, so the process can be more prescriptive, not less.
Our house is from the 1930s. What usually needs replacing?
Typically the waste line and often the supply pipework. Cast iron corrodes from the inside and galvanised supply narrows over decades. We will not tile over either. What we find gets priced as a variation you approve before it proceeds.
Is a unit bathroom cheaper than a house bathroom?
Not reliably. Units are usually smaller, which reduces materials, but access, protection of common areas, restricted work hours and slab constraints add labour. The approval process also adds calendar time even where it does not add cost.
Do I need council approval in Lindfield?
