Choosing a bathroom vanity

The vanity sets the tone for the whole bathroom and carries most of its storage. A few decisions matter more than the rest.

Sizes

• 400–600mm — powder rooms, ensuites and tight spaces
• 750–900mm — the standard single-basin size for most main bathrooms
• 1200mm — single offset basin with generous bench, or a compact double
• 1500–1800mm — comfortable double basin

Wall-hung or freestanding

Wall-hung vanities make a small bathroom feel larger and make the floor easier to clean, but they need solid structural backing in the wall and the plumbing set-out has to suit. Freestanding vanities hide the plumbing and are more forgiving on an existing rough-in.

Cabinet materials

• Marine-grade or moisture-resistant plywood — the most durable choice in a wet room
• Melamine over MDF — good value, but edges must be well sealed
• Solid timber and lacquered finishes — the premium look, with more care required

Tops and basins

Ceramic tops are hard-wearing and easy to clean. Engineered stone and porcelain give a more considered finish and more edge options. Basins are above-counter (a feature, less bench space), undermount (easy to wipe down) or integrated into the top (the cleanest line).

Before you order

Measure your existing plumbing set-out, check door swings and drawer clearances, and confirm your wall can take a wall-hung unit. If you are not sure, send us a photo and your measurements and we will check it with you.

Delivery and collection

We deliver to Sydney suburbs only. Vanities are bulky items, so delivery availability can vary by postcode. You are also welcome to collect from our Hornsby showroom.

Supply and install

Every vanity here can be supplied on its own, or supplied and installed as part of a bathroom renovation. All of them are on display at 104 George Street, Hornsby.
