Warrawee · Ku-ring-gai
Laundry renovations in Warrawee.
The laundry is usually the last room to get any attention and the first one that gives the house away. In a home finished to this standard everywhere else, it is worth matching.

Houses — 63.9% of Warrawee
Finish it like the rest of the house.
Median weekly household income here is $3,388, the highest of any suburb we service. Houses at this level are usually finished carefully everywhere except the laundry, which was done to builder's standard and never revisited.
Use the kitchen offcut
Running the same benchtop material through costs very little when the slab is already bought, and ties the two rooms together.
Full-height joinery
Cabinetry to the ceiling with a broom cupboard and a pull-out hamper. The laundry stops being a room full of visible objects.
Integrate the machines
Behind cabinetry doors with a benchtop over, so the room reads as joinery rather than as appliances.
Same tapware family
A laundry mixer from the same range as the kitchen. It is a small cost and it is the detail people register.

Nearly a third of Warrawee is strata.
323 flats and apartments — a higher share than Wahroonga or Pymble. In a unit the laundry is a cupboard, but the argument for finishing it to match the kitchen is exactly the same.
Stone offcut still applies
Even in a cupboard laundry, a piece of the kitchen benchtop over the machines lifts it immediately.
Heat pump dryer, no duct
Ducting means penetrating common property. A condenser machine sidesteps the approval entirely.
Do it with the kitchen
One scope, one owners corporation submission, one set of trades. Doing them separately doubles the process.

Warrawee questions
Finishing the last room.
Is it worth using stone in a laundry?
If you are doing the kitchen at the same time, almost always — an offcut from a slab you have already bought costs very little and transforms the room. As a standalone purchase for a laundry alone it is harder to justify, and a good laminate or compact surface does the job. Timing is what makes the difference.
Should the machines be hidden?
In a room finished to match the rest of the house, yes. Integrating the washer and dryer behind cabinetry with a continuous benchtop over means the laundry reads as joinery rather than as appliances, and you gain a folding surface. It requires front loaders and adequate depth, which we check on site.
What is the single best thing to add?
Full-height joinery with a proper broom cupboard and a pull-out hamper. The reason most laundries look poor is not the finishes — it is that everything is visible because there is nowhere to put it. Storage does more here than any surface upgrade.
Can the laundry be done with the kitchen?
It is the sensible way to do it. The same trades are already on site, the benchtop can come from the same slab and the tapware from the same range. In an apartment it also means one owners corporation submission rather than two, which saves more calendar time than money.
How long does a laundry take on its own?
One to two weeks on site, plus joinery lead time in front of it. If stone is involved there is the same templating gap as a kitchen. Run alongside a kitchen it adds very little to the overall programme, which is the main argument for doing them together.
Doing the kitchen as well?
Then the laundry costs a fraction of what it would alone. Tell us and we'll scope both together.
