How the funding works
Support at Home and the AT-HM scheme.
Since November 2025 home care funding has run through the Support at Home program, which replaced Home Care Packages. Home modifications are funded through the Assistive Technology and Home Modifications (AT-HM) scheme as upfront funding, separate from the ongoing services budget, with three tiers per twelve months.
The figures here are current at the time of writing and are a guide only — the assessor or Support at Home provider confirms which tier has been approved. We are happy to quote before that is settled so there is a real number to work with.

Low tier — up to $500
Small items such as grab rails or a hand-held shower rail.
Medium tier — up to $2,000
Larger fittings — a shower seat, threshold ramps, lever tapware or improved lighting.
High tier — up to $15,000
Bathroom modification work, such as converting a step-over shower or bath to a level-entry shower.

Will Support at Home pay for a bathroom modification?
Home modifications are funded through the Assistive Technology and Home Modifications scheme, which sits inside Support at Home and provides upfront funding across three tiers per twelve months — up to $500, up to $2,000 and up to $15,000. Which tier applies is decided through assessment, so confirm it with the assessor or Support at Home provider. These figures are a guide current at the time of writing.
Do we need an occupational therapist report?
For funded modifications an occupational therapist assessment is usually required, and the recommendations shape the scope of works. If there is already a report, send it with the enquiry. If not, we can still quote the work privately.
How long will the bathroom be out of action?
It depends on the scope. Where it is the only bathroom in the home we plan the sequence to keep it usable for as long as possible, and we tell you in advance which days it will be out of service. For a full conversion, alternative arrangements may be needed for part of the build.
Can you deal with me rather than my parent?
Yes. We regularly work with adult children arranging modifications for a parent, and we are happy to keep the family across quotes, dates and progress as well as the person living in the home.

Is the waterproofing certified?
Yes. Waterproofing to wet areas is completed by appropriately qualified trades in accordance with applicable requirements, and certification is provided on completion.
